New Black Swan Label Sampler
Date Posted: 2011-09-20
Black Swan is the home of early rarities from the legendary Paramount label, one of the pioneers in jazz and blues recording. Paramount burned brightly in the 1920`s then perishing during the Great Depression when people stopped buying records. The remnants of the label were purchased by record collector John Steiner in the 1940s; he put out a few reissues and leased material to several other labels and finally sold it to GHB in the 1960s.
We began our reissue of the Paramounts many years ago, many of the gems have been reissued. Our sampler includes many of the label`s masterpieces, including early starts like Freddie Keppard, Jimmy Blythe, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Jelly Roll Morton, Ma Rainey, Blind Blake and Meade Lux Lewis.
Give the sampler a try - Black Swan is one of our more obscure labels and you probably find something you like.
