PRODUCT REVIEWS / INFORMATION:

Eddie Boyd was born in Saint Petersburg, Florida on November 3, 1941. He started his musical career at the age of eight, singing with Charlie Bradley's Band. He performed with Charlie for four years. They played all of the local clubs around the Tampa Bay Area. In Junior high school he joined the marching band as a trumpet player. When he entered high school he switched from trumpet to saxophone. While in high school he became a member of Robison Peterson's Band, and spent his summers traveling throughout the New England area. They were the backup band for entertainers performing in that area, some of them were Fay Adams, Ruth Brown, Big Maybelle and many others. After graduating from high school he was already working for several bands, including Gene Franklin's Band, Bobby William's Jazz Trio and others. In 1965 he decided to organize his own group called The Brass Setters. In 1968 he joined Johnny Kay in forming The Dynamics. They toured throughout the country and worked as the studio band for T. K. Productions in Miami, Florida. Eddie reached a milestone in his career with the release of Midnight Special — playing Alto and Tenor Saxophone freely and with a degree of elegance. He was a regular performer at the famed Paschal's LA Carousel Lounge in Atlanta, Georgia.
