Featuring Rare and Unissued Tracks from the World Sessions
'Louis Jordan seemed to come out of nowhere to become one of the biggest names in American music. If he had retired from music when he was 31 in 1939, he would be completely forgotten today but during 1940-52, he recorded one hit after another. Consider that during 1942-51, no less than 59 of the recordings by Louis Jordan and the Tympani Five made the R&B/Race charts with 18 reaching #1 while seven others made it to #2. During a period when he was known as 'The King of the Jukebox,' Jordan even had two #1 hits on the country charts with 'G.I. Jive' reaching #1 on the pop charts.'
